120 attend Tedarus ceremony

THE Brunei Malay Teachers Association (PGGMB) through its Women’s Division and the Council of Women of Brunei Darussalam (CWBD) held a Tedarus Al-Quran ceremony in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan at the PGGMB Headquarters in the capital yesterday.

A total of 120 members from 13 CWBD associations attended the ceremony including those from the Pertiwi Association, Women’s Institute of Brunei Darussalam (WI), PGGMB, Welfare Body of the Spouses of Senior Government Officials and Women Officials (BISTARI), Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam, the Belait District Women’s Welfare Association (PKP Belait), the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Wives Welfare Body (BAKTI), the Women Graduates Association of Brunei Darussalam (PSW), the Tutong District Women’s Business Association (PERGANITA), the Women’s Welfare Body of RPN Lambak Kanan (BAKANITA), the Kampong Lambak Youth Association (PERBEKAL), the Women’s Association of Kampong Junjongan (PEWAJA) and the Nurul Islam Association (PNI).

CWBD vice presidents along with presidents and representatives of the associations were also present.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Vice-President I of CWBD Pengiran Datin Paduka Hajah Mariam binti Pengiran Haji Matarsat followed by the reading of Juzuk 8 of Al-Quran and continued with the recitation of Doa Selamat by Hajah Jusnani binti Taha.

The event concluded with the recitation of Doa Allah Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam by Hajah Malhafida binti Haji Malek and speech of appreciation by Director of PGGMB Women’s Division and Chairperson of the ceremony Pengiran Hajah Rakiah binti Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar. The ceremony was held to strengthen ties among the associations as well as to read Al-Quran and seek blessings from Allah the Almighty throughout Ramadhan.
