Two policemen injured in Thai bomb blast

BANGKOK (Bernama) – Two policemen who were escorting a group of school teachers were seriously injured when a bomb exploded yesterday morning in the Nong Chik district of southernmost Thai province of Pattani.

The policemen are fighting for their lives at the Pattani Hospital.

Xinhua news agency reported the authorities suspected the bomb – an improvised explosive device – was aimed at creating chaos in the province.
According to local media, Khaosod, the police received a report on the explosion at 7.55am local time.

Pattani, along with Yala and Narathiwat, are the three southernmost provinces targetted by separatist insurgents with gun attacks and bombings.
