BRUNEI Darussalam, through the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) and with the assistance of the Brunei Embassy in Vietnam, hosted the Brunei Night Reception on January 17 at the Wyndham Legend Ha Long Hotel, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in conjunction with the 38th ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF 2019) from January 16-18.
Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong was present. ASEAN tourism ministers, head of ASEAN national tourism organisations, invited buyers and media, and about 500 guests were also present.
In his speech, Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali highlighted a glimpse of Brunei Darussalam that offers an array of Islamic, cultural, natural and heritage attractions in a contemporary Asian setting of prosperity, safety and stability.
He also shared other main attractions of Brunei such as Kampong Ayer and the Ulu Temburong National Park which is Brunei’s impressive crown of natural attractions covered by pristine tropical rainforests.
The ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2020 promotional video of Brunei Darussalam was also showcased during the reception.
During the reception, various selections of Brunei local culinary dishes and drinks were served such as pulut gumpal serunding, laksa tahai and otak-otak among others.
The Brunei Night reception also saw cultural performances with dancers dressed in colourful traditional costumes showcasing traditional dances such as Tari Tualang, Samalindang, Joget Hati Tertawan and Aduk- Aduk.
