Programme teaches how to survive in water

THE Youth and Sports Department (Tutong branch) organised the first session of the Basic Safety Awareness in Water 2019 at the Tutong Aquatic Centre.

The first session saw 15 participating in the programme facilitated by Senior Rescuer of the Tutong Aquatic Centre Yahya bin Haji Bakar. The programme was part of the department’s initiative in preparing participants to face different forms of water-related incidents by understanding the basic water safety techniques.

Throughout the programme, the participants will learn about the theory and practical of water safety, including the correct and basic swimming techniques, floating in the water, basic safety technique of self-rescue in water.

The programme is open to people aged 15 to 35. Participants will be divided into four groups, with each group to attend four sessions to complete the programme. Participants will receive certificates upon completing. The programme runs until the end of this year.
