OVER 80 pints of blood were collected in two blood donation campaigns conducted as community projects.

A total of 49 pints of blood were collected in the blood donation campaign, a community project organised by Dynamik Technologies in collaboration with Blood Bank Unit of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital and with support from DARe (Darussalam Enterprise) yesterday morning.

The campaign was held from 9am to 11am at the Design and Technology (D&T) Building at the Anggerek Desa Tech Park.

A blood donation team assisted the donors with brief health screenings to ensure that they were fit to donate.

The campaign aimed to create awareness on the relevance in helping to sustain an adequate supply of blood at the blood donation centre and at the same time, to encourage more donors to come forward to help those who are in need of blood supply and show their commitment in helping one another.

Meanwhile, the Tutong Sixth Form Centre (PTET) recently organised a blood donation drive in collaboration with RIPAS Hospital Blood Donation Centre at its multipurpose hall.

The event’s organiser Teo Ying Ying, a Biology tutor, took the initiative to increase the number of blood donors by rewarding the donors with gifts and t-shirts sponsored by a local company, Yuniku.

PTET citizens also had the opportunity to enter a Blood Donation Drive Photo and Quote competition in an effort to build a strong support network and encourage more participants to join in the drive.

The event saw an overwhelming response from the school’s citizens with a collection of 40 pints of blood this year.

It has been shown that there is a significant increase in the number of donors over the years.

This year marked the fifth blood donation drive conducted by PTET as part of its continuous social responsibility in an effort to offer continuous support to the people in need, encourage more people to donate blood and save lives.

The blood donation drive this year was titled, ‘Donate Blood and Be a Hero of Someone’s Life’.
