Over 400 sweat it out at RBPF walkathon

THE Belait Police District yesterday held a walkathon and cycling expedition as part of activities for the 98th Police Day celebration. The event commenced and concluded at the Belait District Police Headquarters in Panaga.

Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jammy bin Haji Muhd Shah Al-Islam was the guest of honour, accompanied by his wife.

Acting Deputy Commissioner of the RBPF ACP Pengiran Dato Haji Mohd Jefri bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Hamid, Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Hanapi bin Mohd Siput and village heads also attended.

Over 400 participants comprising police officers and members of the public turned up despite rain.

The cycling expedition totalled 22km, while the walkathon saw participants covering 3km. The event aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle.

After the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the Bilal of the Panaga Surau of the Belait District Police Headquarters APO L/Kpl 6495 Md Suzaidy bin Md Hassan, the guest of honour flagged off the cycling expedition.

Following a short warm up, the guest of honour led participants at the walkathon.
