Nationhood programme raises spirit of patriotism

TWO-hundred-and-ninety-two Years 7 and 10 students from Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School attended the Rakan Remaja Penerangan programme yesterday.

The programme was organised by the Nationhood Unit under the Nationhood and Community Division of Information Department.

The programme aimed to instil the spirit of nationhood and social responsibilities among youth; make students become agents in spreading positive information among their peers; promote civic awareness and nationhood to youth toward positive moral and mind; and to be close to the youth and teenagers in school.

Acting Assistant Tutong District Officer Haji Haizul Rizal bin Haji Yahya was the guest of honour.

Principal of the school Goh Siah Ching said, “Youth and teenagers are urged to possess true and strong spirit to push away any challenges that can cause the plunge of morals.”

She added, “It is the role of the Information Department and the school to provide civic awareness and nationhood spirit to youth and teenagers especially towards building positive moral and thinking.” Goh Siah Ching hoped that students will become more positive and productive to face future challenges.

Following the national anthem Allah Peliharakan Sultan and a patriotic song entitled Bendera Negaraku, a video on the correct way to hoist and wave the national flag was showcased.

The event saw a talk entitled Raja Kita, Menghayati Bendera and Lagu Kebangsaan Negara Brunei Darussalam by Head of Information Department branch in Tutong District Hasanul Hidayat bin Haji Abu Bakar. Other activities included stage performances by the students and a quiz.
