Minister attends SCOT Award ceremony

THE Society for Community Outreach and Training (SCOT) held SCOT Honorary Award presentation ceremony yesterday in conjunction with its 5th Annual General Meeting at the Youth Centre in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Present at the event was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.

Also in attendance were Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Khairunnisa binti Haji Ash’ari; Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil; Acting Director of the Community Development Department Rostinah binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Sura Pahlawan Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Tahir; Acting Director of the Youth and Sports Department Haji Zafri bin Haji Mohamed; as well as committee members of SCOT.

Welcoming remarks were delivered at the ceremony by SCOT Chairman Anwar Mohammad, who said, “SCOT was established in 2011 as an organisation that strives to be a catalyst for projects to eradicate poverty in this country”.

“A total of 20 projects have been carried out since its inception, not only in Brunei Darussalam but also in Cambodia.”

He shared that this year marks the fifth time that SCOT has awarded a member with the SCOT Honorary Award.

The SCOT Honorary Award is to an outstanding member as acknowledgement and appreciation for significant contribution towards the development and progress of the organisation.

“It is an appreciation for services to SCOT and the public as a whole, as well as for having the qualities of trust and determination to be a role model for other SCOT members,” said the chairman.

He also noted that SCOT also awards the Certificate of Aspiration to members who have taken leadership in conducting new projects.

He added that this year also sees the introduction of the Stakeholder Award, given to a stakeholder who has consistently committed to supporting SCOT projects in eradicating poverty through public-private partnership.

The recipient of this year’s SCOT Honorary Award was SCOT President Pengiran Salimatul Sa’ada binti Pengiran Mohd Saleh, while a Certification of Aspiration was awarded to Mohamad Farhan bin Azama. The Stakeholder Award was presented to KawanBumi Enterprise. The recipients were presented their awards and certificates by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

In addition, yesterday’s proceedings also featured a presentation on SCOT’s projects and its accomplishments.
