THE second batch of recipients of the LiveWIRE Brunei Business Awards Start-Up Funding Scheme (BASfs) expressed their delight following a contract signing ceremony that took place on January 15 at the Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) headquarters in the capital.
Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) via LiveWIRE Brunei in collaboration with BIBD launched the BASfs in 2018 to support the country’s continuous efforts to diversify economically with rapid development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Brunei Darussalam.
The recipients are Good Deal Employment Agency; Sif Publication; Santai-Santai Shooting Kafe and Grill; Norbayu Enterprise; U Nos K2 Enterprise; Syarikat Al Rasyid; Perusahaan Zulianamasnawi; and Hyren Agrotex Global Success Enterprise.
During the ceremony, the start-up companies signed agreements to receive an approximate amount of BND140,000 in total from the funding scheme.
Speaking to the Sunday Bulletin, a recipient, Shah Isra Firdaus bin Haji Ismail of Sif Publication said, “Alhamdulillah. Thank you to BIBD and LiveWIRE for giving this opportunity to us.
“We are very fortunate to have been selected, to be given the opportunity to carry out what we have been dreaming of doing. With the existence of such platform with LiveWIRE, it gives us a lot of convenience.” Speaking on his company, Shah, who is an Islamic Finance graduate from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), explained that Sif Publication aims to publish books for local authors.
Another recipient was Muhd Abdul Rasyid bin Kamarudjaman of Syarikat Al Rasyid, which is an agriculture company that focusses on paddy cultivation in Kampong Wasan. “Syukur Alhamdulillah, I am happy because of being given the opportunity to ease the opening of a paddy field.”
He said that receiving the funding is meaningful to him, and added that the company hopes to further develop their paddy field and perhaps open another paddy field in the future.
Meanwhile, recipient Hajah Rosinah binti Haji Aji of Good Deal Employment Agency said that her company provides both employment services and training for employees.
On receiving the funding, she said, “Alhamdulillah, I feel blessed. It will really help in building our company.”
Another recipient was Roslee bin Haji Metali of Santai-Santai Shooting Kafe and Grill, which is a cafe that uses a unique concept of having a film set as a setting. He shared that the idea is based on his experience an actor and a film director.
He said, “Alhamdulillah, and thank you to LiveWIRE for giving us the opportunity to spread the wings of our cafe, which Insya Allah, will grow and develop into a successful enterprise.”
