THE Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital yesterday witnessed the officiating of the Hand Hygiene Awareness Campaign 2019, under the theme of ‘#TanganBersihElakJangkitan’ (Clean Hands Prevent Infection).
The guest of honour was Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar.
The ceremony also featured the distribution of a book titled Dasar Pembersihan Tangan Kementerian Kesihatan (The Ministry of Health’s Basic Guide on Hand Hygiene) to the heads of hospital and health services. It was then followed by the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the campaign sponsors.
Later, the minister toured an exhibition and several booths set up at Lobby 5, before visiting several wards including the Intensive Care Unit, Ward 12, Ward 4 and Ward 27 at the Women and Children’s Centre to deliver leaflets on hand hygiene to patients.
The campaign aims to raise more public awareness on the importance of maintaining hand hygiene in reducing the risk of healthcare-associated infections among medical officers and staff, as well as hospital patients and visitors.
Also present at yesterday’s launching ceremony were Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Haji Abdul Manap bin Othman, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the Ministry of Health Dr Haji Zulaidi bin Haji Abdul Latif, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Management) at the Ministry of Health Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin and Chief Executive Officer of RIPAS Hospital Saidah binti Haji Wahid.
