OVER 137 ex-students of the Government Engineering Trade School (GETS) and Jefri Bolkiah College of Engineering (MKJB) – presently known as the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Jefri Bolkiah Campus (JBC) – made a reunion visit to the premises of IBTE JBC in Kuala Belait yesterday.

Led by Major (Rtd) Haji Murni bin Haji Mohd Salleh, the group, which comprised former students from the 70s and 80s, was welcomed to the IBTE Satellite Campus by Principal Norjeemee bin Jenek.

The visit rekindled old friendships among the alumni and stirred up feelings of nostalgia as they revisited the campus.

Several former MKJB teachers were also present.

Norjemee talked on the developments and expansion the campus has undergone since the former students left there, while Major (Rtd) Haji Murni reminisced on his time at the campus with his friends.

A video presentation – prepared by the students – showcasing various aspects of the former students’ time at the campus was then shown.

The alumni presented a gift to the Principal of IBTE Satellite for hosting their visit.

Certificates were also handed to former teachers who taught at the campus by the IBTE Satellite Principal as a show of appreciation to them for being present during the visit.

“In addition to the aforementioned objectives, the goal of our visit was to witness the changes the campus had undergone after our time at the campus,” Major (Rtd) Haji Murni said. We were able to see the changes, and viewing the existing building and faculties rekindled the memories from past times.”

“I hope that this reunion will help encourage and inspire current students of the campus, seeing us all in the workforce now and all grown-up. All our achievements began here at this campus,” he continued.

Following the reunion ceremony at the campus’ multipurpose hall, the former students were divided into groups to tour the various new and existing faculty buildings across the campus.
