Floodwaters inundate 12 villages in Kota Marudu, 118 people evacuated

KOTA MARUDU (Bernama) – Continuous downpour since last Friday evening worsened the flood situation, causing 118 victims from 33 families to be evacuated to four relief centres yesterday morning.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department in a statement said the victims were from 12 villages, namely Kampung Longob, Kampung Belianjung, Kampung Mosolok, Kampung Maragatung, Kampung Salimandut, Kampung Damai, Kampung Parong, Kampung Popok Laut, Kampung Gurantung, Kampung Garada, Kampung Morion and Kampung Teritipan.

“As at 8 am, all the victims have been evacua-ted to four relief centres at Dewan Kampung Longob, Dewan Mosolog, Dewan Morion and Sekolah Kebangsaan Teritipan,” it said.

The floodwaters also caused Jalan Gana road, specifically at Km5.7, to be inaccessible to all vehicles, it added.
