Filipino embraces Islamic faith

A FILIPINO man of Igorot ethnicity embraced the Islamic faith during a ceremony held at a residence in Kampong Delima Satu, Berakas yesterday evening.

Bert Salvino Bangsilan, 32, who works as an Assistant Baker at Sim Kim Huat Bakery chose the name Muhammad Firdaus bin Abdullah following the conversion ceremony that saw

him reciting the Dua Kalimah Syahadah before officers from the Dakwah Development Section of the Islamic Da’wah Centre.

A Dikir Marhaban was recited and scented flowers were sprinkled on Muhammad Firdaus to enliven the ceremony.

The conversion ceremony was held at the residence of Hajah Rosnah binti Panglima Asgar Dato Paduka Haji Abdullah.

Statistics provided by the Islamic Da’wah Centre indicated that some 404 individuals embraced the Islamic faith throughout last year.
