DPMM FC strengthened their grip at the top of the DST Premier League after running riot in a 5-0 victory over Panchor Murai FC at the Jerudong Park Mini Stadium yesterday.

Md Hakeme Yazid bin Said continued his prolific form with a hat-trick while DPMM first team star Abdul Azizi bin Ali Rahman opened his account for the season in his return to Brunei league football with a brace.

The league leaders sent a message to the rest of the league, particularly Tabuan Muda, of their intent of an immediate promotion to Brunei’s top flight DST Super League despite only making their debut this season.

The Jerudong-based club had been wary of the threat that Panchor Murai FC possess, given that they are a more experienced side, having competed in Brunei’s second tier since 2016.

DPMM FC’s forwards sharpened their shooting drills during their final training session on Thursday and they mirrored their repetition of shots during the match to devastating effect.

They raced to a 1-0 lead through a precise effort from Md Hakeme Yazid in the fourth minute.

Abdul Azizi doubled the lead in the seventh minute before Md Hakeme Yazid added his second of the game in the 19th minute.

Md Hakeme completed his hat-trick in the 36th minute and Abdul Azizi grabbed his second on the stroke of half-time.

DPMM FC’s instinctive attacking front was matched with defensive stability following a third successive clean sheet this season.
