A REAR glass door of a convenience shop in the Kiulap commercial area was damaged yesterday morning after an unsound person allegedly smashed the door.

The shop’s owner, Mohamed Jaladeen, lodged a police report of the incident.

According to him, the incident happened at around 8.30am when an unsound man walked into the back of the shop. Ten minutes later, the man started to shout at the rear glass door.

Mohamed Jaladeen said, “I heard a loud bang and the glass was shattered.

“I rushed to the back of the shop to see what happened and the unsound person ran away. I reported the matter to the police and they came to the shop to carry out the investigation.”

Mohamed Jaladeen’s business is open since 2000 and this is the first time such an incident has happened. He is worried about the safety of himself and customers.

He also revealed that the unsound man has been in the neighbourhood for around six months.
