Company fined for improper trash disposal

THE Enforcement Unit of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board issued a compound fine of BND200 to a local company yesterday as part of the effort to enforce the Minor Offences Act Chapter 30 Section 12.

The company, Mothercare MSB Enterprise, violated the Section 12 (1)(a) of the Minor Offences Act, as it disposed trash, including used cardboard boxes, plastics, and more, improperly at the surrounding public area at Unit 1 & 2, Lot 7268, Kampong Pandan, Kuala Belait.

The company was given seven days to settle the fine and failing to do so would result in the case being brought to court. If convicted, the accused could face a further fine of BND1,000, or one month imprisonment for first-time offenders. Repeat offenders can face penalty of BND3,000 fine or imprisonment of up to three months.

Members of the public and business owners are reminded to always maintain cleanliness by disposing trash at designated zones.
