Business leaders to work together for Vision 2035

THE National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Brunei Darussalam (NCCIBD) held its first executive committee meeting for 2018-2021 session at the chamber’s office in Beribi Light Industrial Area in Gadong yesterday.

President of NCCIBD for 2018-2021 Haji Mohammad Hanafi bin Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Abdul Rahman said the NCCIBD should represent the nation for businesses and work together in partnership and respect each other and always have a common understanding and work in harmony.

“We have to work together to tackle national issues pertaining to business growth to our members and the business community in this country.

“We have to work with and support the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s programme and Vision 2035 through various ministries.”

“As we all know, our constitution is very old and we may need to update to uphold the business climate, technology trend and time,” he added.

President of Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Malcolm Lim, Vice-President of NCCIBD Haji Abdul Saman bin Haji Ahmad and members from Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry were also present.

The meeting also discussed the history, policy and institution, proposed programmes as well as to get to know each other and deliberate any issues pertaining to national interest for our business community with regard to international matters.

NCCIBD was established in April 1985 to join the ASEAN Chambers of Commerce and Industry and other international associations and to enter business arena.
