Over 100 participants, comprising officers and staff under the Serikandi Group of Companies (SKG) collected 200.88 kilogrammes (kg) of rubbish during its annual coastal clean-up at the Silver Jubilee Recreational Park in Kuala Belait yesterday.
Chairman and managing director Shaikh Khalid bin Shaikh Haji Ahmad said, “The campaign aimed to raise public awareness on the importance of keeping our environment clean and the consequences of littering.”
The event proceeded with a warm-up session and rubbish collection along the park’s coastline.
Some 39 bags of rubbish were collected and weighed.
The group that collected the most received an award.
The campaign, led by Shaikh Khalid and chief executive officer Revi Bhaskaran, was part of SKG’s corporate social responsibility and an activity to celebrate Serikandi’s 50th anniversary. – Daniel Lim
