Over 2,000 members of the Seri Mulia Sarjana School (SMSS) community flocked the much-anticipated charity fun run at the Jerudong Park Amphitheatre yesterday.

The EcoRun was part of Seri Mulia Sarjana School’s initiative to promote awareness on global responsibility through reducing, reusing, and recycling wastes.

As parts of the event’s proceeds, cheques amounting to BND10,401.52 and BND6,934.35 were donated to Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam and the Occupational Therapy Unit of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital respectively.

Chief Executive Officer of SMSS Dr Mary Lim presented the mock cheques to representatives of both organisations.

Sarjana families, together with teachers and staff, including Pengiran Dipa Negara Laila Diraja Pengiran Haji Abdul Momin bin Pengiran Haji Ismail and Datu Paduka Dr Haji Omar bin Haji Khalid and the Occupational Therapy Unit of RIPAS Hospital represented by Munirah’ Athirah binti Haji Sahidi and Nur Asyikin Bazilah binti Haji Hassan were among who attended the event.

Students, parents, and teachers who completed the 3km and 6km run received finisher’s certificates.

Leading up to the culmination of the EcoRun, each of the SMSS sections held activities around the 3Rs theme, ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’ as part of this year’s Hi-5 Value of ‘Global Responsibility’ initiatives. Various other activities were also carried out.
