SOME 200 individuals joined the LiveWIRE SMEs 5km Fun Run, 21km Half Marathon Run and 21km Cycling Expedition held at the Berakas Indoor Stadium recently.
The event, organised by the LiveWIRE Brunei Business Network (LWBN) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), was aimed at promoting the LiveWIRE SMEs Promotion event being held in the Indoor Stadium.
The LiveWIRE SMEs Promotion, the eight edition of the event, featured some 120 local entrepreneurs registered under LiveWIRE Brunei showcasing a variety of local goods, delicacies, merchandise and services.
This weekend-long event was capped off with a certificate and prize presentation ceremony, which was attended by guest of honour Javed Ahmad, the Chief Executive Officer of DARe (Darussalam Enterprise).
According to a statement, the 8th LiveWIRE SMEs Promotion is a collaborative effort between LiveWIRE Brunei, MCYS, Ministry of Education, and the Oil and Gas Discovery Centre (OGDC).
One of the primary objectives of the event is to attract and encourage more youths to get involved in both youth and entrepreneurial activities, which contributes to the social and economic development of the country.

LiveWIRE is part of an international organisation operating in over 23 countries worldwide. Fully sponsored by Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd, LiveWIRE was established in 2001 with the aim of introducing young Bruneians to entrepreneurship and assisting them in this field through the provision of workshops, business programmes, and mentoring and business activities.
Other upcoming LiveWIRE programmes include the ‘Bright Ideas’ enterprise awareness and business ideas generation workshop on December 5-6, and the ‘Business Plan Series’ which will be held on December 12-13.
