The Brunei LNG and Baiduri Bank jointly endowed scholarships to over 20 local start-up founders and budding entrepreneurs, enabling them to participate in the two-day Local Business Development (LBD) Programme 2019 and Workshop.
Chairman of Baiduri Bank Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Dr Abdul Fattaah and guest of honour Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof were present.
Chairman of Asia Inc Forum Dato Timothy Ong said, “Everyone is interested in having a secure and prosperous future, as it presents rich and new opportunities, as well as new challenges, where securing the future will require understanding the forces that shape the future, which includes digitalisation and technical innovation.”
The event saw opening remarks by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Dr Abdul Fattaah, and keynote address by the guest of honour.
Themed ‘How to Leverage the Digital Revolution’, the forum featured perspectives on different topics from international speakers such as author and expert in Digital Transformation Robert Schaffner; Chairman of Nusantara Technologies Dato’ Ghazali bin Dato’ Mohd Yussoff, who is a powerful speaker on developing a positive mindset; and Senior Vice President of Go-Jek and Head of Go-Life Dayu Dara Permata.
The speakers were also joined by a diverse group of local speakers and panellists comprising several industry leaders, thought leaders, local business founders, corporate figures and members of the academe who are participating and following developments along the journey of becoming a digital society.
The second day of the LBD Forum and Workshop will see the Brunei LNG and Baiduri Bank scholars, as well as other workshop participants, being trained in ‘Digital Strategy to Transform Your Business’ and ‘Customer Experience for the Business of the Future’, both led by subject matter experts and experienced thought leaders and trainers with a combined experience of over 40 years in Southeast Asia and globally.
Participating in the LBD Forum and Workshop will allow founders and managers to better understand key aspects of the digital age, and gain insight on how their businesses could best navigate the changes these advances technology brings.
Over 180 business figures, corporate executives, and government officials have registered to discuss the business landscape in a digitising world, competing and winning as businesses embrace greater digitisation, and how to be resilient in the face of unstoppable transformation.
In awarding the certificates of scholarship at the Brunei LNG Headquarters in Lumut, Human Resources, Communications and External Relations Manager Mizan Adiliah binti Haji Mohamad Deli remarked that as one of the key players in the country’s largest economic sector, Brunei LNG is proud to contribute towards the creation of employment opportunities and economic diversification through entrepreneurship development.
“We are delighted that these young men and women have accepted our offer to take advantage of this training programme to further enhance their leadership and skill sets,” he said.
