Brunei records 2 more deaths from COVID-19
Brunei Darussalam today registered two more deaths due to COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 5.
According to the Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Haji Md Isham bin Hj Jaafar in a press conference, the first reported death today was Case 609, a 85 year old local female who was admitted to the National Isolation Centre on 14 August 2021.
The second patient was Case 1629, who was a 69 year old local male and was admitted at the National Isolation Centre on 22 August 2021. Both patients suffered from lung infections after being infected with COVID-19.
110 new cases in Brunei
110 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected in the country today, including 3 imported cases, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 1,983.
At present, there are 40 active clusters including two new clusters – 1597 Cluster with 10 cases and 1640 Cluster with 6 cases.
There are additional 53 new cases to the currently active clusters which brings the total number of cases in all the active clusters to 1198 cases.
Meanwhile, there are 46 cases where the source of infection is still being determined.
32 cases have recovered today bringing the total of recovered cases to 468 cases. This means, a total of 1,508 active cases have been recorded in Brunei Darussalam.
Among the active cases, four cases are in critical condition, where three cases require ventilators and one case requires the help of an additional heart/lung machine (ECMO). Meanwhile, twenty-seven cases have been admitted at the Intensive Care Unit for close monitoring.
