THE Gambling Suppression and Anti-Vice Unit from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) recently detained 17 people for suspected gambling activities at No 26, Jalan Limpaki in Kampong Mulaut.
During the raid, police personnel found one desktop and six laptops installed with the online casino program, SCR888, which is believed to have been used for gambling purposes.
The suspects comprised of four locals, six Indonesians, six Bangladeshi and one Malaysian.
The police also seized some cash found at the scene, along with a jerami batu set, a cloth for the game of katam-katam and other gambling items. The case is currently being investigated under Chapter 28, Section 4 and 6 of the Common Gambling Houses Act.
Meanwhile, the RBPF urged for public cooperation with regard to preventing gambling and illegal activities in the country.
