In a continuous effort to strengthen faith among Muslim converts and to provide them with an opportunity to perform haj this year, the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) yesterday handed-over haj packages to Darussalam Services Sdn Bhd and Straits Central Agencies (B) Sdn Bhd.
Sixteen Muslim converts selected to receive the haj pilgrimage packages from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam also received their funds during a ceremony at the MoRA premises.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, as the President of MUIB, handed over the packages.
According to Secretary of the MUIB Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sabtu, each Muslim convert receives BND4,500, as well as BND15,100 to complete the payment of packages they have selected.
The selected converts also received a pocket money of BND2,000 for their personal expenses.
