A total of 152 pints of blood were collected during two donation drives organised by Brunei Gas Carriers Sdn Bhd (BGC) in collaboration with Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital Blood Donation Centre and McDonald’s Brunei.
Yesterday’s session at McDonald’s Lambak branch, saw some 82 pints of blood collected from walk-in donors as well as those who booked a slot through the Bloodkad app.
BGC’s Acting Managing Director Captain Abdul Mateen bin Abdurrahman Liew and representatives from McDonald’s Brunei were present.
Meanwhile, the drive at McDonald’s Jerudong on June 18 collected 70 pints of blood.
The donation drives were held in support of World Blood Donor Day and to answer the Ministry of Health’s call to replenish the country’s blood reserve.
The initiative was part of BGC’s social investment initiatives and healthy lifestyle programmes (HLPs). BGC believed that the campaign will aid the development of the community spirit and create awareness on the need for safe blood transfusion and the importance of blood donation.
Manwhile, the Blood Donation Centre will continue to organise blood donation on the final week of June, in conjunction with the World Blood Donor Day.
Tomorrow’s blood donation drive will be held at the lobby of the PGGMB building in the capital in collaboration with Regus Brunei, from 10am to 2pm.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the drive will be at Al-Bukhari Textiles Aman Hills from 10am to 2pm.
Thursday’s drive will be at the International Convention Centre in Berakas organised by Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition (Brunei MYCE) 2022 (Economy Week), from 10am to 2pm.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, the drive will be held at Unicorp Sdn Bhd in Beribi Industries II from 10am to 3pm.
The public can also donate blood at the Blood Donation Centre or any blood bank and is advised to book for slots via the Bloodkad app.
