Fifteen athletes comprising 12 men and three women representing the Brunei Veteran Athletics Association left the Sultanate to take part in the 27th Thailand Master Athletics Championships held at the Ratchakitprapha Stadium in Satun Province, Southern Thailand from February 23 until 26.
The athletes are: Captain (Rtd) Haji Osman Lahab, Haji Ariffin bin Abdullah, Lim Beng Hock, Haji Durani bin Haji Matasan, Omar bin Kahar, Budin anak Meringgai, Haji Tiang/ Haji Safri bin Mudin, Marznimurney bin Abdullah, Pengiran Amir Isa bin Pengiran Sabtu, Pengiran Azizul Akbar bin Pengiran Haji Badaruddin, Hajah Mariah binti Haji Metussin, Siti Diah binti Jani, Alinawati binti Haji Aliakbar, Idris bin Haji Asmad/Asmat and Haji Shahri bin Haji Ahmad.
Leading the delegation is team manager Hajah Mariah binti Haji Metussin, who is also the honourary secretary of the Brunei Veteran Athletics Association.
The participating athletes will be competing across 18 different track and field events including 100 metres (m), 200m, 400m, 800m and 1,500m race, long jump, five kilometres walk, triple jump, high jump, shot put, discus and javelin.
The categories for the events ranged from 45-49 years age group to 80-83 years age group.
