Some 146 Sayyidina Ali Secondary School (SMSA) students had their academic and co-curricular achievements recognised as the school held an award ceremony at its multi-purpose hall on Monday.
Principal Steven Shim Sheau Huei, Deputy Principal (Academic) Sharifah Raihani binti Haji Wan Ali, Deputy Principal (Administration) Hajah Mazizan binti Haji Mohammad and Parents and Teacher’s Association (PTA) Chairman Nordin bin Haji Zainal attended the ceremony.
Parents and guardians were also present.
“We are delighted that parents and guardians are present to commemorate the occasion, as your support and teachers’ efforts helped the students succeed despite COVID-19,” the principal said. The ceremony continued with the principal and deputy principals presenting awards to the students including the top three performing students for each class, from Years 7 to 10 as well as Pre-Vocational, Best in Subjects, Best in Attendance and CCA Awards.
The school also acknowledged the teachers’ efforts as part of the Teacher Recognition Award for achieving above the national average in BC GCE ‘O’ Level 2021.
The PTA of the school also presented special awards to acknowledge the efforts made by the recipients.
One was the Special Student’s Award received by Mohammad Nazhirul Azhwar bin Azrul, while Muhammad Zamirul Aswandy bin Haji Ahamad received the Special Teacher’s Award.
Other awards handed out by the PTA was the Special Leader’s Award, presented by the PTA chairman to the principal, and a special award for the best exemplary parent received by Nordin.
