A total of 140 students along with teachers from the Lambak Kiri Secondary School attended the ‘Get to know ASEAN’ roadshow held by the Information Department at the Prime Minister’s Office through the International Affairs Unit as the Secretariat for the ASEAN-COCI Sub-Committee on Information (SCI) at the school yesterday.

The event is one of the department’s continuous efforts to inject the spirit of patriotism and unity (ASEAN-ness) among students in appreciating the function and purpose of the establishment of ASEAN.

It also serves to strengthen the relationship between the Information Department and the community especially students who will inherit the continuity of the nation and play an important role in catalysing the direction of the country in the future.

Head of the International Affairs Unit and Information Officer Mufidah binti Abdul Hakim delivered the briefing, instilling awareness and a sense of belonging among the school students as part of the ASEAN community, in line with the ASEAN motto ‘One Vision, One Identity, One Community’.

The briefing also highlighted Brunei Darussalam as the Chair of ASEAN in 2021 and promoted the ‘We ASEAN’ mobile application which contains information on ASEAN and ASEAN member states, ASEAN calendar, as well as photo and video galleries.

The application is one of the projects under the ASEAN-COCI SCI, which can be downloaded via Play Store for Android users and the App Store for iOS users.

A quiz was also conducted to identify how much they learnt about ASEAN and its role in developing member countries.
