FOURTEEN school counsellors ended a five-day intervention workshop with a certificate presentation ceremony held at the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) as a preliminary effort to prevent drug-related issues among students yesterday.
Guest of honour, Acting Director of NCB Haji Mohd Jaffari bin Haji Mahadi, presented the certificates to the participants.
Participants were provided with knowledge and exposure to the country’s drug laws, effects of drug use and the range of services offered by the NCB to help drug addicts.
Counsellor and trained physiologist were invited to facilitate the workshop along with NCB officers from the Preventive Drug Education Division, NCB.
The workshop was the second session conducted this year, with the first held in late April. Some 40 school counsellors have completed the workshop so far and NCB targets another 30 participants in the third and final intervention workshop slated in August.
The Acting Director of NCB hoped that the school counsellors can carry out preventive and intervention measures to further combat drug related issue among students.
