13 women associations join Khatam Al-Quran

Eighty members from 13 women associations under the Council of Women of Brunei Darussalam (CWBD) attended a virtual Khatam Al-Quran ceremony yesterday.

CWBD President Datin Hajah Siti Hajar binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof was the guest of honour.

Vice President I Pengiran Datin Paduka Hajah Mariam binti Pengiran Haji Matarsat, Vice President II Datin Hajah Masni binti Haji Md Ali and Vice President III Hajah Kertini binti Orang Kaya Paduka Setia Diraja Abang Haji Abu Hanifah were also present.

The associations were: Pertiwi Association, Women’s Institute of Brunei Darussalam (WI), Welfare Body of the Spouses of Senior Government Officials and Women Officials (BISTARI), Belait District Women’s Welfare Association (PKP Belait), Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam (PPPBD) Brunei Malay Teachers Association (PGGMB), Tutong District Joint Women’s Welfare Association (PERGANITA), Women’s Welfare Body of RPN Lambak Kanan (BAKANITA), Women Graduate Association (PSW), Kampong Lambak Youth Association (PERBEKAL), Kampong Junjungan Women’s Association (PEWAJA), Nurul Islam Association (PNI) Royal Brunei Armed Forces’ Wives’ Welfare Body (BAKTI).

The ceremony began with a welcoming remark and the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by the guest of honour followed by the recitation Surah Ad-Dhuha to Surah Al-Masad by representatives from Pertiwi Association, PGGMB, WI, PKP Belait, PSW and PPPBD.

It continued with the reading of Takhtim led by Hajah Fatimah binti Haji Ahmad from Pertiwi while Doa Khatam was led by Chairperson for Religious Section for CWBD from PGGMB Pengiran Hajah Rakiah binti Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar.

Julianawati binti Haji Hamdan of PKP led the recitation of Tahlil, while Pengiran Razmahayati binti Pengiran Haji Mahmud from PSW led the Doa Selamat. Doa Allah Peliharakan Sultan dan Brunei Darussalam was read by Hajah Fatimah binti Haji Abd Ghani from PPPBD.

The annual event aims to enliven the holy month of Ramadhan and encourages members to reap the benefits and rewards by reading Al-Quran and seeking blessings from Allah the Almighty.
