129 students feted at KIG 2020 Convocation

A total of 129 graduates were feted during Kolej International Graduate Studies (IGS) 2020 Convocation Ceremony, themed ‘Innovation & Integrated Education for Youth Empowerment’, at the KIGS Lobby in the main building on Saturday.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin presented certificates to the graduates.

Forty-one graduates received certificates for completing Bachelor (Hons) in Business Administration and Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Accounting.

Seventeen graduates completed Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Information Technology while another 14 graduates completed Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Software Engineering with Multimedia.

Meanwhile, 16 diploma-level students and 17 certificate-level students completed their arts and design programmes while 23 diploma-level students and nine certificate-level students from the Faculty of Multimedia and Broadcasting completed their programmes.

The event began with the procession of lecturers and graduates, followed by the recitation of Al-Quran verses, welcoming remarks from KIGS Chief Executive Officer Dr Haji Azaharini bin Haji Mohd Jamil and a speech by the minister.

Dr Haji Azaharini, in his welcoming remarks, said the theme for the convocation highlighted the importance of youth empowerment through integrated and innovative education, which also serves as a reminder of the responsibility KIGS lecturers hold in not only imparting skills and knowledge to youth to enable them to get jobs and become a productive member of the society, but also in sharing experiences and moral lessons through ties with students, coaching and constructive observation.

Dr Haji Azaharini also detailed KIGS’ initiatives in empowering youth through various activities and programmes, as well as the college’s achievements under the implementation of the KIGS Strategic Plan 2019-2023.

The event continued with a video presentation, a choir performance by KIGS students, and a certificate and award presentation.
