Twelve BND500 fines and 57 warnings were issued to 12 shops for selling items listed under the Seasonal Maximum Pricing (PHMB) 2022 for Ramadhan and Syawal 1443 Hijrah above the ceiling price.

This was stated by the Department of Competition and Consumer Affairs (JPHEP) at the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (DEPS), Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) yesterday. Price-controlled food items were whole chicken, chicken eggs, beef, butter, margarine, ghee, flour and selected milk products.

DEPS called on retailers to be transparent and ethical by not confusing consumers and offer a competitive price to create a healthy business environment that benefits traders, consumers and economic development.

Shoppers are advised to exercise their rights to report any misleading, unethical and inappropriate practices among retailers, and using the PenggunaBijak app to compare prices.

For complaints, contact JPHEP via Darussalam Line 123, PenggunaBijak app or e-mail to aduanpengguna@jpes.gov.bn or consumercomplaint@jpes.gov.bn with supporting documents such as receipts and photos as proof.
