The Youth Development Centre (PPB) received 114 registrations for the January 2021 session at the PPB trainee admission ceremony in Kampong Tanah Jambu yesterday.

PPB Assistant Director Fauziah binti Haji Mohd Salleh said out of the total, several target groups have been identified: 17 comprising Community Development Department (JAPEM) welfare assistance recipients; 11 Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) recipients; four differently abled (OKU) recipients; four from the Welfare Home Complex (KRK) residents; three former National Service Programme (PKBN) trainees; two single mothers; and one married person.

With the inclusion of these target groups, it is a step by PPB in emphasising youth development in maximising the availability of inclusive programmes that support the community in earning an income and transforming PPB into a centre for excellence.

She added that during the course, the youth will be exposed to main components of the programme: skills training, self-development and job placement.

The skills training programme will focus on theoretical and practical knowledge related to their skill areas, while the self-development programme will focus on the development of the trainees’ identity, which will include programmes related to the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) philosophy, spirituality, sports, community and the nation.

In the job placement programme, trainees will be exposed in the world of work through placement in government and private agencies. Those who opt for entrepreneurship as their career trajectory will immerse in projects under the Entrepreneurship Programme, such as the YDC Lights On Programme.

In ensuring PPB youth’s skills meet the needs of the job market, Fauziah said the centre will also emphasise on building disciplinary identity and spirituality by dignifying the surau.
