THE Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation (YSHHB) yesterday presented a total of $15,000 to three beneficiaries towards supporting youth development and alleviating the burden of a family whose home recently collapsed.
The three beneficiaries each received $5,000 during a presentation ceremony held at the foundation’s headquarters in Jalan Kumbang Pasang and one of them was Syahman bin Sabtu, whose collapsed home once stood in Kampong Pelambayan and who said that the contribution will go to-wards repairing the house.
In an interview with the Bulletin on the sidelines of yesterday’s event, Syahman added that “we will rebuild” and also expressed his gratitude for the foundation’s support.
The incident took place around midnight last week when one of the seven family members who was at home at the time heard the fracturing of the building’s foundation that led to its collapse. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Another recipient was the Youth Development Council who will use the $5,000 to conduct programmes towards increasing the participation of youths in community development by organising the Brunei Youth Forum.
The third recipient, Duli Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Mosque in Kg Tamoi, will use the money to conduct this year’s Mosque Youth Activity Programmes, which will involve the participation of selected youths from a number of mosques throughout the Brunei-Muara District.
