YAYASAN Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) yesterday handed over contributions to eight organisations and institutions during a ceremony held at its main office.
YSHHB Managing Director Hj Brahim bin Hj Ismail presented the contributions to the recipients.
Part of the contributions was for administrative funds for 39 mosques, suraus and places of worships around the country, in line with the aims and policies in place to enhance Islamic faith in the country.
The amount, when broken down, is for 14 mosques in the Brunei-Muara District – to the tune of $12,000; 14 mosques in Tutong ($11,850); four mosques in the Belait District ($3,000) and seven in the Temburong District ($6,450).
The Ash-Shaliheen Camp received $2,300 for its Ash-Shaliheen Mosque Youth Association. This group caters for youth between 16 and 21 years of age. The three-day programme will run from December 5 to 7, during the school holidays.
The contribution was received by Muhammad Muqri bin Matahir, Head of the Ash-Shaliheen Mosque Youth Association.
Meanwhile, the Brunei Information Source Collection Symposium received $3,110 through its committee for expenses incurred for the Brunei Information Source Collection Symposium 2014 themed ‘Preservation of the Knowledge of the Traditions and Heritage for Research’ and organised by the Brunei Studies Collection, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Academy of Brunei Studies, UBD.
The contribution was received by Hj Yussop bin Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Diraja Dato Paduka Hj Musa, Assistant Head Librarian, UBD.
The Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme (SSEAYP) received $2,570.90 through its Secretariat at the Youth and Sports Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, for expenses incurred by programme participants.
The representative was Abdul Aziz bin Hj Ahmad, the Coordinator of the SSEAYP, Youth and Sports Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The Architectural Design Competition for the World Architecture Day 2014 received $3,000 through the Public Works Department, Ministry of Development, for expenses in organising the competition which carries the theme ‘Architecture and Identity – A Country’s Challenge’.
The representative was Hj Sabri bin Hj Abdul Hamid, Acting Architect Executive, Public Works Department, Ministry of Development.
The 1st BSB International Marathon 2014 received $5,000 through the Brunei Darussalam Athletics Association for sponsorship of the 1st BSB International Marathon 2014.
The representative was Pg Hj Khairil bin Pg Dato Paduka Hj Damit, Secretary of the 1st BSB International Marathon 2014.
The Fund Collection Project, a bazaar by undergraduates of the Brunei Studies Academy, UBD, received $1,000 in contribution, which was received by Saidatul Hamizah binti Saidi, Deputy Chairperson of the Fund Collection Project, UBD.
Additionally, $7,400 was presented to two families who were victims of a fire at Kampong Kota Batu.
The representatives were Pg Hj Mohd Daud bin Pg Ahmad and Dayangku Rosita bte Pg Hj Mohd Daud.
