SEVEN local youths left for South Korea yesterday to represent Brunei Darussalam in the ‘19th Asean-Korea Future-Oriented Exchange Programme – Asean Youth Square’ in Seoul.
The youths, comprising graduates from several higher learning institutions in the country, were led by youth leader Muhammad Wafiy bin Haji Norhalim.
Sending off the delegates at the Brunei International Airport was the Acting Director of Youth and Sports, Haji Zafri bin Haji Mohamed.
The programme – themed ‘2017, Year of Asean-Korea Cultural Exchange with Youth!’ – is hosted by the National Council of Youth Organizations in Korea and aims to further deepen mutual understanding between the youths of Asean and Korea, and will build on Asian multi-culturalism and mutual cooperation between Korean and Asean youths.
Throughout their seven-day visit, the Brunei delegation will participate in various activities and events such as the Year of Asean-Korea Culture celebrations, Asean-Korea Youth Food Festival, and Asean-Korea Youth Night, as well as visiting the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics site.
