THE Brunei capital was filled yesterday with the spirit of patriotism as thousands of enthusiastic participants, including youth associations, joined the parade during the 31st National Day celebration which carried the theme, ‘Generation with a Vision’.
The decade-old “Belia Cinta Tanah Air Programme”, which aims to inculcate patriotism and mould the youth into a visionary generation, was represented by more than 100 youths from across the country, at the parade.
Members of the committee that run the programme said the youth need to be raised based on good community values so that they contribute towards socio-economic development.
The leader of the team of more than 40 participants who were sent by BERSATU Association to join the parade, Mosli bin Haji Hadis, said their participation in the celebration reflected the young generation’s commitment and contribution to the country.
He said the National Day’s theme is a call to the youth to be proactive, dynamic and progressive in helping to enhance the country’s development.
Haji Shamsul bin Haji Abdul Rahman, who joined his colleagues from the Scouts Association at the celebration, said the nation needs to produce a more educated, respectful, competitive and empowered young generation to achieve Brunei’s Vision 2035.
