KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) – Soon, there will a city developed specially for the youth, known as ‘Youth City’, which the government plans to build, via collaboration of the Malaysia Blue Ocean Strategy Institute.
Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said the idea which was mooted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was aimed at catering to the needs and objectives of the younger generation.
“Discussions on developing the Youth City is currently at the preliminary stage. Areas on the location could be surrounding borders of the Klang Valley or other cities where there could be a possibility for cheaper land cost,” he told reporters after officiating the 6th International Conference on World Class Sustainable Cities (WCSC) 2014 yesterday.
Other ministries involved in the survey and further study of the idea are the youth and sports, and the rural and regional development ministries.
