IN CONJUNCTION with its opening ceremony, the Times Cineplex, Tutong recently held its first screening, inviting the Yasmine team to the event as part of the leading actress Liyana Yus’ homecoming to personally welcome cinemagoers to the first screening of Yasmine in Tutong.
Present at the cinema visit were actressess, Liyana Yus and Nadiah Wahid, alongside Yasmine’s Director Siti Kamaluddin as well as Producer Khairuddin Kamaluddin and Action Director Chan Man Ching.
Ever since its general release in August, Yasmine has gathered an overwhelming amount of interest in Brunei Darussalam and internationally.
Actress Liyana Yus expressed her excitement in meeting her fans from Tutong as her roots originated from the district – and said she feels that the meet and greet in Tutong is like a homecoming for her.
“My supporters are always very welcoming and it warms my heart when I meet them,” said Liyana Yus cheerfully.
Nadiah Wahid also expressed her gratitude to her fans, saying, “I would like to thank all our supporters who came all the way to meet us and to watch Yasmine with us. We hope that Yasmine will continue to be screened at the Times Cineplex in Tutong over a period of time.”
Meanwhile, Director Siti Kamaluddin is grateful for the continuous support that has been given to the film thus far, saying that, “It’s so great to see a full screen on its first showing in Tutong. When you get the chance, make sure to catch Yasmine at the cinema while it’s still screening.”
The Yasmine hype is continuing internationally and this month Siti Kamaluddin and Khairuddin Kamaluddin will be attending the Brunei Culture Night in Ottawa, Canada and the Hawaiian International Film Festival 2014 where Yasmine is nominated for the NETPAC Award.
The first screening of the Cineplex also included a VIP screening of “Northmen: A Viking Saga” for the officers, staff and their families of the Tutong District Office.
The new cineplex at the Berjaya Complex along Jln Pengiran Hj Ahmad, Kg Petani, is the third Times Cineplex cinema in the country.
