A 23-YEAR-old local woman pleaded guilty to possession of Syabu for trafficking purposes and was jailed with a fine.
Amal Noor Sabrina binti Ahmad received five years’ imprisonment and a fine of $1,000 or one month jail in default.
The Narcotics Control Bureau Prosecuting Officer, Norizan Hj Jaya, informed Magistrate Azrimah Rahman that the defendant was arrested at a shop in Bengkurong Sinarubai by a team from the Intelligence Unit and officers of the Narcotics Control Bureau who were acting on a tip-off at about 3am on April 17, 2013.
Two vehicles were searched and one didn’t have any drugs.
Before the second vehicle was inspected, the defendant was told to alight the vehicle and she surrendered her personal items, cash amounting to $700 and the drugs in plastic straws.
The drugs were analysed at the Department of Scientific Services lab and found to be 0.5382 grammes of methylamphetamine in 0.7091 grammes of crystalline substances.
