ON MARCH 1, 2012, I forwarded a letter for additional monthly welfare assistance to the Department of Community Development (JAPEM), Tutong branch following the initiative from the Welfare Division of Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital in Tutong.
A supporting letter from the village head was also enclosed with the completed application and was handed over personally by the hospital welfare division staff to the Community Welfare Officer in Tutong.
Many months have gone by and until today there is no answer. I do not know whether my application has been accepted or not.
I did not lose hope and contacted the hospital welfare division staff to find out about the status of my application. I was informed that my application has been sent to JAPEM to be processed.
I contacted JAPEM and sent an appeal letter to the Director of JAPEM several times, but sadly was not well served as I hoped they would.
I am a person with special needs and use a wheel chair in carrying out my daily duties. With such a physically-challenged status, my movements are limited and it makes it tough for me to go to JAPEM to make an appointment and enquire about my application.
I am more surprised than shocked as to why it has taken so long for the relevant department to process my application, two years and seven months to be exact, and I am yet to receive an answer.
I need an answer as I am in need of assistance.
I am looking forward to a quick reply from JAPEM.
