EMERGENCY repair works at the Bukit Barun Treatment Plant from February 13 to 17 have affected the capacity of water supply delivered to the Brunei-Muara District.
The reduced flow of water supply has adversely affected several reservoir levels in the district including Lambak Kanan, Meragang, Kiarong and Subok.
The problem was aggravated further by a pipe burst on the transmission pipeline at Kiulap supplying to Bandar Seri Begawan, Subok, Jalan Kota Batu up to Kg Sungai Belukut, which occurred on February 15 and repair works could only be completed on the morning of February 17, the Public Works Department stated.
Houses on high ground and further from the source have been experiencing low water pressure and some have not even received any water supply.
Upon completion of repair works, there was a noticeable improvement in water level at the reservoirs and water supply to the affected areas, except for a few residents residing on hilly grounds.
The department is still deploying water tankers to the remaining affected residents while undertaking more efforts to fully stabilise the water supply and continuously monitor the situation.
The department has deeply regretted the inconvenience and thanked the residents in the affected areas for their patience.
