I WOULD like to voice out against the Singapore Straits Times “Brunei Edition”. As a reader of Singapore Straits Times for years, I was totally disappointed and shocked when the newspaper vendor informed me that effective October 1 the paper will no longer be available and local readers can only have the “Brunei Edition”. The importation of the newspaper is no longer allowed.
I wonder what is the reason behind this. I am also amazed to see the notice that advertisement space is available but to call a Malaysian number for booking.
The Brunei Edition is one third the size of the original version. I hope there will be an explanation why we can’t get the Singapore edition as readers would really like to know.
