I AM writing on behalf of the students of a higher learning institution in Brunei regarding the postponement of our convocation ceremony.
It was planned in early November this year but has been postponed to next year. The news has left many students annoyed.
Both students and parents were excited as for many of us this was a lifetime opportunity to be able to wear the robe and receive our Advanced Diploma Certificate.
We waited for almost a year to receive our certificates and were all prepared for the upcoming Khatam Al-Quran event and the big day, only to know that it was postponed to next year two weeks prior to the actual event.
Can we know what has stopped our graduation from happening this year? Most of all, we need our certificates in order for us to apply for jobs as some jobs require our certificates so that our salaries could be fixed in accordance with our qualifications.
Some of the students who are pursuing studies abroad have already bought tickets to go back home to attend the ceremony. The postponement is not only a waste of our time, but also our money.
