IN CONJUNCTION with World Heart Day and the national campaign to eradicate Non-Communicable Diseases 2014, the Ministry of Health in association with Gleneagles Jerudong Park Medical Centre will be organising a walkathon on Sunday, September 21. The walkathon will start at 7am from the Al-’Afiah Hall of the Ministry of Health.
Members of the public are welcome to partake in the five-kilometre walkathon which will pass through the Menteri Besar recreational park, near the Health Promotion Centre.
Other games and activities that will be conducted include the Healthy Lifestyle expo, aerobic and ‘poco-poco’ dance sessions, circuit exercises, lucky draw, henna designs and face-painting, bouncers, tug-of-war, rowing, hula hoop, angry bird games and so on.
The walkathon aims to promote public awareness on the importance of physical activities aside from understanding the risk factors which contribute to stroke and heart diseases.
