Volunteers reach out to rural school in Mukim Sukang

OVER 40 members of the Ministry of Education (MoE), staff and students of the Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College (Maktab Duli) participated in the Students’ Service Programme at Dato Maharaja Setia Dian Primary School in Kampong Sukang, Belait District.

This programme is organised by the Co-Curriculum Division of the sixth form college to improve and enliven the student dormitory rooms. It provided opportunities for the volunteers to learn about the school’s condition in the village.

The programme also strengthend the relationships between the volunteers, teachers and pupils at the primary school. Present as the head of the delegation was Zaman bin Haji Gapar, Acting Director of Schools. Upon arrival, the delegation was welcomed by Cikgu Rosnah binti Datu Maharaja Setia Haji Muhd Simpok, Headmistress of the school; and Haji Mohd Noh bin Datu Maharaja Setia Dian, Acting Penghulu of Mukim Sukang.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah. The welcome speech was delivered by Cikgu Rosnah and Haji Mohd Noh followed by a speech from the Acting Director of Schools.

The event continued with the donation from the Department of Schools’ staff, lecturers and students of Maktab Duli as well as contributions from the Nazmi Textile Mall to the headmistress and the schoolchildren, presented by the Acting Director of Schools.

Donated items are books, stationery and dormitory tools such as bookshelves, clothes, sheets and television for the students living in the dormitory.

The volunteer group then moved to Jannatul-Firdaus Dormitory to repair and to clean the residence.
