VILLA Mauri is serving up a storm with its newest promotion, “November Wicked Tuna”, putting a new spin on how people can enjoy the fish.
The promotion, on for the entirety of November, has seen the Italian restaurant add four new items to the menu, all of which are centred on the use of fresh tuna. These dishes were put under the spotlight on Thursday during a special media preview.
The first dish to be served was the Tonno Alla Tartare. Here, fresh tuna loin was marinated with lemon juice, capers and served with crispy potato wedges and roasted garlic. The tuna here was accentuated by the lemon juice, which manages to moisten and sweeten the tuna without being sour. Combined with the roast garlic and potato wedges, the dish managed to offer a very pleasant bite.
Served up next was Pasta Di Casa Con Tonno, a very rich, flavourful home-made egg ribbon pasta contrasted and combined very well with crispy Julienne tuna to create a memorable tasting experience, all of which, was brought out further with sliced cherry tomatoes.
Also on offer as part of this promotion was the Pizza Con Tonno Fresco that combined adobo sauce with mozzarella cheese, fresh tuna and jalapenos.
The main course, Risotto E Tonno, was a true standout. Here, a beautifully cooked grilled tuna steak was served with saffron risotto and grilled vegetables. The steak was tasty and tender, and its accompaniment of the light saffron risotto worked well with the tuna, creating a fiesta of flavour for the taste buds.
This was very much the highlight of the evening and the main course that lived up to its name.
All these dishes are available now at Villa Mauri, where the cooking is being taken care of by Head Chef Faizal.
Speaking to the Bulletin, Chef Faizal explained that the whole idea behind the promotion was to offer customers a new way of experiencing tuna fish.
When asked why tuna chosen as the centrepiece of the promotion, he explained that it is a fish that is plentiful in Brunei, hence, is easy to attain fresh. Freshness, he asserted, is of the utmost importance to the restaurant.
In addition to the November Wicked Tuna, Villa Mauri and its partner restaurants, Panaga and Prego, have a number of other concurrent promotions going on.
One is the “Morning Treat” promotion, where, from Monday to Thursday, diners who have breakfast at the restaurant between the hours of 8.30am and 10.30am get a free coffee of their choice or fresh fruit punch.
In addition, the “Afternoon Double Deal” sees dine-in customers who order one pasta or pizza between the hours of 2pm and 5pm from Monday to Thursday will get another one for free.
A delivery promotion is also on, which sees customers who order two pastas on Mondays are given a free Margherita pizza, while customers who order one pasta or pizza on Wednesdays are given another of the same pasta or pizza for free.
Friday deliveries sees customers who order two pizzas given two desserts of their choice for free, while customers who order any four pasta or pizza dishes given two orders crispy squid and two orders of garlic bread free of charge.
