THE Asean@50 Exhibition is being held at International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas where Asean Embassies in Brunei Darussalam are showcasing their best products.

The Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Brunei Darussalam showcased attractive handicraft and tourism brochures at a booth in the event. Handicraft included Vietnamese palm conical hats and Vietnam coffee. The booth also showcased tourism products to promote Vietnam to Bruneians. Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City) is a popular tourist destination among Bruneians.

Present at the booth were the Ambassador of Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Brunei Darussalam, Do Anh Tuan; Counsellor Le Tuan Anh; and embassy staff.

The Asean@50 Exhibition, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, will conclude today.

The activities lined–up for the event include talks on trade and education in Asean and its dialogue partners as well as cultural activities – dances, movies and food from across the region.

The event was held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of Asean nation.

Founded in 1967, Asean has since matured into a community focused on economic integration and growth.

Asean is both the world’s seventh-largest market and third-largest labour force, and has been projected to become the fourth-largest economic bloc by 2030.

The group established the Asean Economic Community last year to create a single market and production base—facilitating even closer economic, political, social, and cultural cooperation.
