HANOI (Bernama) – Vietnam will continue making more efforts to fulfil the United Nations Millennium Development Goals and developing the UN Development Agenda beyond 2015, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.
Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc made the pledge during a meeting with a delegation of the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) led by its president Gonzalo Koncke Pizzorno here Monday.
Ngoc said Vietnam considers the UN Women as its important development partner.
“We highly value the agency’s contributions in helping the country’s gender equality-related efforts,” he said.
Pizzorno commended Vietnam’s achievements in implementing gender equality and women empowerment particularly its adoption of the 2011-2020 national strategy on gender equality and 2011-2015 gender equality programme.
