VFA Brunei emerged as champions of the 2nd HMFC-Johore International Soccer 9’s 2014 after defeating HMFC Johor 2-0 in the final at Padang Seri Gelam, Dataran Bandaraya in Johor Bahru over the weekend.
En-route to the final, VFA Brunei edged Promola Penang 1-0 in the semi-final and only lost once in the group stage. VFA beat Rimba Stars and Poly Vet Singapore with identical 1-0 score-lines, lost to Promola Penang and drew 0-0 with HMFC Johor. VFA won via a walkover against Bangsar Vet.
Twelve players including star man Puncha Gunong were headed by team manager Hj Sahari Hj Tahir and coach Nordin Tujoh.
VFA Brunei and Rimba Stars competed in the Masters category (over 50 years) while Terazza FC featured in the Veteran category (over 40 years) where they lost 1-0 in the semi-final.
